Mechanical/Structural Engineer

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define project scope, objectives, milestones and deliverables.

  • Using FEA and DFMA principles, create renewable energy system primary structures, equipment mounting solutions, etc.

  • Effectively communicate designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.

  • Work with Sales & Marketing team to formulate proposals including cost information.

  • Work directly with our Electrical Engineer to define structural requirements based on necessary systems components.

  • Coordinate with Drafting and Graphics departments to develop fabrication drawings, work instructions, and installation drawings as required.

  • Assist project managers during installation phase with site survey and field modifications if necessary.

  • Practical knowledge of prototyping manufacturing process.

  • Occasionally visit install sites to serve as Engineering support, perform safety checks and function tests once install is complete.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD packages required.

  • Proficiency with RISA 3D structural analysis package or similar software is a plus.

  • Knowledge of DIALux software or other photometric study software is a plus.

  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal direction, willing to learn and be flexible enough to change directions quickly.

  • Knowledge and experience in design and analysis of pole structures and foundations is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & DETAILS:

  • BS in Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited institution

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Ability to flexibly work within a small entrepreneurial team environment with frequent shifts in tasks and priorities.
